Juan Saez Pedraja has practiced architecture internationally since 2005, working in Madrid, Berlin, Chicago, and Los Angeles. His experience spans multiple scales and disciplines of the built environment, from furniture and interior design to architecture, landscape, and urban planning, and across a wide range of project types, including residential, hospitality, office, commercial, and institutional projects.
Before establishing his Los Angeles practice, Juan worked with architecture studios in Europe and the United States, including STL Architects in Chicago and Selgascano, where he was part of the project team for Second Home Hollywood. His broader professional experience includes working on projects in collaboration with leading engineering firms such as Arup, as well as collaborating with artists including Eva Lootz and the Sol LeWitt Estate.
This multidisciplinary and international background continues to inform the work of Saez Pedraja Architects. Based in Los Angeles, the practice seeks to continue the long tradition of dialogue between European architecture and Southern California—a history shaped by architects who arrived in Los Angeles from elsewhere and found in the city a place where new architectural ideas could take root.
At the center of Juan’s work is the belief that architecture’s essential task is to defend the authenticity of human experience. The practice approaches architecture not primarily as the production of images or objects, but as the construction of places that engage directly with how people live, perceive, remember, and inhabit the world.
Juan is a licensed architect in California. He has served as a juror for international architecture competitions and his work and collaborations have been published internationally in architectural and design media.
